Teeny had the second "real" haircut of his life yesterday. The first one was months ago, just before his first birthday. That time, he didn't love the experience but he endured it without tears. Yesterday, we took him to a brand new hair salon designed for kids. They have lots of toys all around, videos playing, music playing, and yesterday anyway, kids everywhere! Because it was their grand opening in our area, they were offering the haircuts for just $9.99 (a good deal for a baby cut) which I'm sure contributed to the craziness yesterday.
Our little guy was having a great time while he waited for his name to be called. He climbed on some of the life-sized plastic characters, played with cars and trucks on the floor, and bounced around with a few other kids. Then it came time for him to get strapped into the chair. He kept reaching for S, crying, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy." We kind of had to hold him down to get him strapped in. Fortunately, he quickly settled down. Our very smart stylist had a container of animal crackers at her station. That's all she needed to bring a smile to Teeny's face - they are his most favorite of foods!
In the end, he got a great haircut, and we had an interesting little family outing. I'm sad that his curls are gone, but it's nice to be able to see his eyes and ears again. He was starting to look like a tiny Beatle, so it was time.
